Green Day vs Nirvana Summer Camp is a five-day camp, Monday-Friday
9:00 am - 3:00 pm, with a half-hour lunch break each day. This camp is
designed for kids 9-17 years of age who want to play music and perform live on
stage, all while exploring the aggressive punk music of Green Day and the Seattle Grunge sound of Nirvana. Campers
will learn about and perform music from both bands from the height of their popularity. At
the camp, we will choose a variety of Green Day and Nirvana songs with input from the
campers that will allow each musician's appreciation
of these bands to grow and prepare them to perform live on stage at the end of the week at the Hard Rock Cafe on Beale Street!! Yes, come to this camp and you will play live at the Hard Rock on Friday night!!
Whether you are a beginner or advanced musician, we will keep you
engaged, challenged, and totally ready to rock out at the show on
Friday night! We will spend the majority of the time working on the
chosen songs and getting ready to perform the concert at the end of the camp
for friends and family. Participants can expect to learn more about their
instrument, how to use professional gear in the rehearsal room and on stage,
and how to perform the songs in the show. In addition, they will also learn how
to critically analyze music and how to recreate, as close as possible, the
sound that was created by the original artist. We will also discuss the art of
stagecraft and presence (performing in front of an audience), as well as how to
get the right tone and sound out of the instrument. Campers will learn how to
work with sound engineers and how to set up for a performance. In addition to
the musical aspects, campers will also learn teamwork, accountability, goal setting,
communication skills, and will have a great sense of accomplishment and
confidence for the hard work and discipline it will take to make the concert
happen at the end of the week. Campers will be directed by members of our
awesome faculty, and will have assistance and interaction from camp counselors
made up of our more experienced and advanced School of Rock students. Come
